Greg,
I think you have missed the point entirely, it was what you wanted, if you had approached me politely saying I had made a mistake I would have responded positively instead re-read the email and tell me how that does not appear to be a threat on your part. You wanted this post this is the post you got, to be honest I was quite kind I have as you have pointed out capable of being exceptionally nasty when it comes to search engine optimisation but instead designed it to cause limited damage to your brand.

When you relaunch your site this post will naturally drop out of the top 10 for your brand name and I have made it clear that I have no qualms with your service, much like I had no issue with <a href="http://www.timnash.co.uk/10/2009/park-hampers-seo-sucks/" rel="nofollow">Park Hampers</a>, if you read the post you would have perhaps realised rather then being anti Park Hampers it was actually a post designed to help them.

This post will have done your web site rankings in the long run a lot of good I could have chosen to be nasty, I didn't, I painted you not as the bad guy just the naive.

I have all the way through pointed out my mistake, and I was genuinely upset I had made such a stupid mistake I do a lot of research on such posts mainly as they are to benefit the people I'm discussing as much as my readers. If I didn't care I wouldn't have been so upset with your opening email ;) So your point on accuracy is well taken and indeed I have consequently taken on an Editor in light to just double check for such things in future. She has been helping me for the last few months and I hope you will have seen less typos since.

Tim,

I see you have made a "learning lesson" for your readers from our brief correspondence. May I contribute?

Park Hampers, from what I can see, are a perfectly good and decent company. Unfortunately, purely from being in the same line of business, they get on several webpages that highlight FarePak - a company went down with over 100,000 people's Christmas hamper savings to the tune of £39million. Bad! Very bad!!

I believe it is libel to publish anything defamatory or damaging which is untrue. On that basis, your original blog post was therefore libelous even if the libel was almost certainly unintentional and de minimis. I took it you had not done it intending harm but only in error so I asked for a correction:
"that any future web searches will show that you posted the information in error".

You write above "I don't respond well to threats on a Sunday morning".
Perhaps you would be kind enough to show where in my original email I actually threatened anything?

And as you are apparently an SEO, I assume you knew exactly what you were doing when you put the meta tags on this blog page to be picked up by Google and other search engines? Clearly you do know as you paste a Google search above.

"

Instead of portraying me as the bad guy, might it be a better learning lesson to point out the importance of accuracy in anything involving websites?

And that meta tag... do think it might be just a wee bit... umm inaccurate... to say I "threatened to take action over a typo"?
Is that what I would want people to find in Google if they search for gopark.co.uk?
Would you perhaps revise it if I ask really, really sweetly?
Hows about "Tim apologises to GoPark.co.uk for a small error he made in a blogpost" Nice and neutral and accurate all round :)

Regards
