I agree, directories still provide some good link juice, however I would only opt to use relevant directories. It is time consuming and boring, just like most of SEO, however business owners are already working 70 weeks, where do they find time to fit SEO in?

I would be very suprised to see any SEO campaign that doesn't involved some sort of directory submission. It builds a nice foundation of links, and the reason people are hired to do it is because it's so bloody boring and time consuming!

Sad but true, we tend to just recommend one of the SEO companies we know and who use our services and suggest they start again, but you can't win always that said if they are approaching you at least they have noticed their is a problem which puts them above the majority of people!

The saddest thing is when a company approaches you having worked with an SEO consultant who has used all this snake oil on their website. They're not getting the results that were promised so they hope someone can make it work.

Often it may cost more to reverse some of the damage than they paid so telling them that is a message they instantly reject. It is sometimes wise to walk away since it is very difficult to turn this into a win/win situation.
